April 17, 2024 - Another successful, informative civic meeting with Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine and the Suffolk County Police Department. Thank you to our membership for your steadfast support. Thank you to our community partners the North Babylon Chamber, North Babylon Lions, and the Concerned Taxpayer’s of Wheatley Heights/Dix Hills Civic Association for your presence. Our May Meeting is on 5/15/24. We hope to see you there!

Last night's meeting was fantastic. We were privileged to have Mr. Weldon Smith and his wife, who have been married for 72 years, speak to us. In celebration of Women's History Month, we distributed roses to all the amazing women who attended this month's meeting. Moreover, several local business owners were present. If we all use the same businesses for our projects, we can save money.

February 14, 2024

Our February Civic Meeting was held both in person at Brennan High School and virtually on Zoom. The meeting was a community roundtable discussion where community members shared their thoughts and ideas.

Following the discussion and announcements, there was a membership vote on a community covenant and restriction. The minutes of the membership meeting are available to members and are read at our monthly meetings.

Our January Civic Meeting was virtual only due to the inclement weather. Despite meeting virtually we discussed and accomplished community goals.

We thank the owner of Eagle Auto Body and their engineers for updating the community on a facade enhancement program taking place at their facility on Mount Avenue.

We thank our friend and Suffolk County Legislator Jason Richberg for attending our meeting and kicking off our guest speaker series for the new year with an update from the County Legislature.

BLCA is committed to preserving property values and keeping our community beautiful and safe for generations to come. In order to achieve these goals our businesses, homeowners, and civic association need to do their part. We always welcome infrastructure and beautification enhancements in our community.

Welcome to our Community

The Belmont Lake Civic Association Inc. was established in 1959 and is one of the oldest enduring historically African American civic associations in New York State.

At present, we are a diverse civic body that represents 1,200 homeowners and 5,000 voters in Suffolk County, New York.

We strongly believe that a clean and beautiful neighborhood is a safe neighborhood, and that monitoring the neighborhood is a key to ensuring its safety.

Together, we have established a community of excellence that emphasizes unity, education, safety, and beauty. Our goal is to take our community to the next level by working together.

Great job by Reggie Saunders and the team! Destiny Trio turned into Destiny Quartet. We loved the addition of drums, horns, and Christmas Tunes! Thank you to our members in attendance. We understand you have many choices on how to spend your time and we appreciate you spending it with us. Last night marks the end of our free concert series, events, and meetings for 2023. We had a successful year with more in store for 2024. Merry Christmas, Healthy, and Happy New Year to all!

December 17, 2023

Fun for all at last night’s caroling event. Embracing the holiday spirit underneath the spectacular winter wonderland of lights BLCA members, friends and neighbors gathered to sing Christmas carols, enjoy hot chocolate, and admire the beautiful decorations in the heart of our community at the Alice T. Cone Memorial Triangle.

BLCA is proud to welcome back Suffolk County Sheriff Errol Toulon Jr. as this month's guest speaker. As always the meeting was informative, impactful, and meaningful.

Our Sheriff is doing a phenomenal job on behalf of Suffolk County residents. According to the public lands trust one of the most powerful weapons in the fight against crime is the beautification of community green spaces, parks, and gardens. We have partnered with the SCSO to maintain our community bird sanctuary on Hilltop Avenue and Lakeway Drive in West Babylon.

We enjoyed the monthly safety reports from the Suffolk County Police Department 1st Precinct Cope Officers, Town of Babylon Investigators, and the North Babylon Fire Company.

From our community to yours Happy Thanksgiving! Let's pause to appreciate life's blessings.

Unity In The Community Coalition hosts 2023 Meet The Candidates

This forum demonstrated the value of common community interest. Thank you to the 100-plus attendees from across Babylon Township for your participation in our annual Meet the Candidates.

Topics discussed included affordability, immigration, pay equity, environmental protection, economic development, and safety at large. Collective empowerment is the key to our success. We have a choice to advocate alone as a finger or advocate together as a fist. A fist is much stronger than a finger.

Thank you to our neighboring partners the Concerned Taxpayers of Wheatley Heights/Dix Hills Civic Association, Inc., the Concerned Citizens of Wyandanch Civic Association, Inc., the Concerned Fathers Association of Wheatley Heights, Inc., the Mother’s Club of Wheatley Heights Inc., the Concerned Citizens of Deer Park, and the Deer Park Community Association for fostering unity in the community. Blessings

Kymistry 101 Band

Summer fun continues in the neighborhood. NB4LIFE weekend was a great success and it started with a concert meet and greet on Friday night. We once again gathered for another triangle affair to enjoy R&B, Funk, Dance, and more from Kymistry 101 Band. We also enjoyed delicious food from Vic's Heart & Soul Food Truck.

Pat Johnson's Soul Alive Band

Community members enjoyed a free summer concert sponsored by the Town of Babylon at our community triangle on Mount Avenue. Pat Johnson's Soul Alive Band performed Jazz, R&B, and Hip Hop hits from the 70's, 80's, and 90's. We enjoyed delicious food and refreshments from Bella's Empanadas. A soulful experience with beautiful weather, soothing music, and a sense of community meeting friend's old and new.
